5 Common Traps New Wedding Photographers Fall Into

Wedding photography is a challenging genre that requires you to be at the top of your game in every facet. If you are new to it, it can be easy to make mistakes along the way. This excellent video tutorial discusses five common traps new wedding photographers fall into and how to be better by avoiding them.

Coming to you from Taylor Jackson, this great video tutorial discusses five traps new wedding photographers often fall into and what you can do to avoid them. One that I think is particularly important is avoiding going full-time too early. Being a professional wedding photographer can be really rewarding, but it also brings with it a high degree of stress and pressure, particularly since it revolves around such an important day in the couples' lives and there are no do-overs. And given how competitive the marketplace is, you will want to be on your best game when you decide to make it your full-time profession. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Jackson.

Please stop posting videos that could be simple lists. This video is a prime example: a talking head that rambled aimlessly for 20 minute of my life when I could’ve read a list in 1-2. The content was mildly useful but the presentation was useless and immediately off putting.

That’s one problem with the world these days, a 20 minute video has the potential to make him a lot more money than a short written list does.

We generally post 4-5 original articles a day: www.fstoppers.com/originals

your the man keep up the good work

Thank you! Means a lot!

Yeah sorry when I said “him” I was referring to Taylor.

Trap #1: buying/investing in Nikon in 2020/2021

To save anyone that is interested a bit of their time, here’s the list from the video.

1. Gear
2. Being Different
3. Overthinking Web and Social
4. Going Full Time Too Quickly
5. Rapid Business Growth

Please Fstoppers, at least copy the info from the video descriptions when the list items are included there.

Thank you, Max! I'll second this suggestion as well.

You could add the time points to your list :) 1.) 2:13, 2.) 5:06, 3.) 6:50, 4.) 9:35, 5.) 14:35

Good video (even though I would prefer having the list in written form as many others here) and I agree about trying to be different. That's a huge trap and while there is nothing wrong with trying a new Photoworks effect, it certainly isn't a great idea to change your whole style in order to be more creative. The clients have picked you for what they saw in your portfolio and there isn't a place for serious experiments when you are booked.
