Animal Masquerade for Weddings and Engagements

Animal Masquerade for Weddings and Engagements

Even though I'm a wedding photographer, I've never pretended to understand some of the trends that brides embrace to make their wedding or engagement pictures unique and creative. I dont mind rolling the "must have" shots of brides who cant get away from the latest on pintrest. Trends like this one, though, are not only bizarre, they're slightly evocative.

I understand shots of lion and horse heads are fun and get something unique for the couple to show off to everyone. However, these images have a subtle innuendo that might be missed by some. One of the recent uses of masks in media has been in conjunction with sexual acts. In the last 20 years, movies such as "Eyes Wide Shut" and  "The Shining" both portray scenes involving weird masqueraded sexual acts. In "Eyes Wide Shut," the characters use masks to hide their identities during a high class orgy while "The Shining" shows a scene involving fellatio and a bear suit.

I imagine most brides have not seen those movies and have no recognition of the subtlety to these images. Unless I was a close friend, I wouldn't dream of pointing it out. Still, it sure would be weird to photograph something like this.

Clearly these people are furrys. A furry is someone who has an interest in anthropomorphic animals (animals who have a human qualities be it simply talking or having a human-like body or mind). That's my guess anyway :P
