An Incredible Interview With The Master Of All Things Portraiture, Greg Heisler

You’ve probably seen plenty of Heisler’s work without knowing it, and it can be said that he is one of the contemporary greats when it comes to portraiture. His work has graced the cover and insides of many of today’s largest publications, and he’s responsible for creating countless iconic photos of celebrities. In these videos (part two is in the post), Greg gives some fantastic advice to photographers about getting new jobs, finding inspiration, learning new techniques, and retaining clients. Absolutely invaluable information, especially when it comes from someone as well-spoken and as experienced as Greg.

              Part two:

Hmmm. He never actually demonstrates anything in the interviews. Still a worthy mentor, but in most of the videos I’ve seen of him (except in the short Dubai shootout with Zac and Joey) he sticks to only speaking… much like Steve McCurry in his own videos. So this is not a complaint as much as it is an invitation… would love to see Greg working out his craft for us to see now that he has laid the foundation of motivation and inspiration.

This was honestly a terrible interview. He says a bunch of mumbo jumbo but does’t actually give any information.

Don’t use an idea wall? Don’t draw inspiration from others works?

DON’T USE TECHNIQUES? Wth are you supposed to do then?
