is CPL filters good for Long-exposures at night?

Hi,

I'm thinking about purchasing a Kenko CPL filter, it will be a good purchase for cityscapes and general long-exposures photography?

here's some of my work on long-exposures. Any critique and tips on how to improve anything will be very much appreciated.

thanks

No there aren't so good at that, most of them will cut you the light of the Stars but they won't give you a good light from the artificial lights of the cities.
-You can try Hoya ra54 or Nisi natural night for Cityscapes-night shots.

thanks for the reply. I'm going to take a look at these filters

Personally, I've only used ND filters from time to time when shooting late night long exposures (but that's only because the lights in Tokyo at night can make it look as bright as it is during the day).
I've never tried a CPL while shooting long exposures, to be honest, so I'd be interested to see what kind of effect it has, if any.

As for ways to improve, I think composition is a big thing many people overlook when first shooting streaks of light. I like the composition in your third photo, because the streaks add to the composition and enhance the subject, rather than being the main subject

Keep up the good work.

Hey jordan, thank you very much for your reply. About the composition I agree with you. I'm trying everything to understand how I can improve my photography, and your critique gave me a good insight.

ND filters always were good friends of mine, and before I jump into a good quality CPL I would like to understand how the polarizer would improve the lights into a nightscape long exposure. I know it could work as a light ND, but I don't know about how it would appeal with the lights and reflections. I'm also thinking about buying a Cokin ND filters.
