Nikon 1 V2 Announced and Available for Pre-Order!

Just after my 1 V1 review this week, Nikon has their replacement 1 V2 ready for pre-order after an announcement last night. The V2 builds even further on what was already a fantastic, solidly built camera.

The V2 builds on an already popular platform, but there are some rather large changes that I’m both surprised and happy to see. The build of the body seems more robust, extending the hand grip so you can fully reach around it on the right for extra support. The camera now includes a pop-up flash, too, in a mini SLR-style form with a hot shoe just above it for an external flash.

The V2 also has a 14MP CX sensor, up from 10MP on the V1. It also features a new placement of the shooting mode dial, moving to the top of the camera where there’s an additional adjustment dial for making adjustments easier. This should solve virtually all of the issues I had with accidentally bumping that dial on the V1 in its old placement, especially since that selector now lets you choose between Auto, Program, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, and Manual modes. All in all, this seems like a great refinement to the V1, and I’m excited to see it in person. If it wasn’t before, this is now obviously Nikon’s idea of a truly professional mirrorless system.

Preorder the black or white body only for $799.95, the black or white kits with the 10-30mm VR lens kit for $899.95, or the black or white kits with the 10-30mm VR and the 30-110mm lenses for $1149.95.

not much improvement over V1 in the looks department! Nikon needs a new product designer!

He said 64,000 ISO in the beginning.  I was like =O Well why can Nikon not make their DSLR’s do some of the same things this camera can?  Like full control of aperture while shooting video!!!

I know this has nothing to do with the end results, the photos, but that is one ugly camera. wow.

I thought this was going to be some sort of parody. *wiping coffee off the monitor*
