The Fantastic Animal Kingdom Brought To You By This Little Black Box

Ever wonder what it would be like to cuddle with lions? Or how about watch owls dance to hip-hop? Action cameras are amazing tools to capture once-in-a-lifetime moments but what about capturing nature in all its wonder and weirdness?

GoPro launched its first camera in 2004, interestingly as a 35mm point and shoot, but they added the first digital version less than two years later with the HERO. It took a while for it to go mainstream as it was viewed more as a niche tool for sports and, let’s face it, weird ideas. Fast forward to 2021 and the current offering is vastly more capable and durable. In fact, the latest model can shoot 5K video, 20 MP photos, and 240 fps slow motion. All contained in a package that’s 2.1 by 2.8 inches in size.

This isn’t meant to be a promotion for GoPro but rather what new camera technologies allow us to capture. Where before you had to be a documentary filmmaker so you could video and share amazing animals in the wild, not so anymore. Enter this short but amazing montage with some animal moments with and without humans present.

I remember growing up and only being able to view animals from around the world in old videos at school and whatever the local zoo was able to maintain. How amazing is it that the average person can now grab these fantastic moments with something that fits in their pocket? Provided you can find the camera again. Numbers 9 and 1 are my favorites.

Wow that video was so amazing but you would never catch me outside with lions I don’t care how well they are trained that would be super terrifying

Seriously. And he's all like, "Hey buddies! Who're my good boys?!"
