Photographing The ISS To Prove Conspiracy Theorists Wrong

We have all seen the flat earthers and other conspiracy theorists out there. Enter Dave McKeegan, who is out there, providing information on his YouTube channel to prove they are wrong and that the Earth is indeed a globe and the International Space Station does actually exist. In this video, McKeegan shows us how he captured the ISS transiting across the moon to prove them wrong.

One of McKeegan's viewers does not believe the International Space Station is real or if it is, whether it is even possible to photograph it, That is where a challenge was born. "Pokie" commented on McKeegan's video, claiming that if it was indeed possible, he would concede his position, so McKeegan gladly accepted this challenge.

There are many photographs and videos out there that show the ISS, so McKeegan needed to have a simple plan to show his work, but first, there were a few other challenges to overcome. Do you photograph the ISS transiting the Moon or the Sun? Will you have clear weather to even see it? What camera settings do you need? When is it transiting next, and where do you need to be?

These are all very important questions to capture the image, so a lot of planning is required. McKeegan does a great job at providing all of this information in a clear and informative way. He explains it so well that I'm going to give it a go myself!

Have you captured the transit of the International Space Station? We would love to see them, so show us in the comments below.

I captured images of the ISS transiting the sun on June 30th, 2021. The transit lasted 7/10ths of a sec. My Nikon D90 can only fire off 5 fps and it got 2 images within that time. From my perspective it was traveling from top to bottom.

That is fantastic George and also amazing to see those sun spots too
