Impact of new Instagram Business profiles

Does anyone have any experience so far, positive or negative, with the newly added Instagram business account option? I run two accounts, one for my freelance photography business (~6k followers), and for my "day job" (16k). My day job account brings us a LOT of our business and attention, and I'm nervous about messing with it. I know I'll eventually be forced into changing it, but does anyone have any experiences that should make me hold off as long as possible?

Nothing so far, but i'm also very interested to hear some news!

I like the insights I get, I haven't been using Instagram long enough though to really have a proper opinion of it.

Recently my account was 'accidentally' deleted by Instagram and once they finally got around to re-instating it (2 and a half weeks later) the first thing I did was make it a business account, linked to a Facebook page – mainly because I imagine they would be more cautious about accidentally deleting business accounts rather than personal ones.

I think having a contact link on an account is always good as well, I can't imagine that would be bad for a business that has so many followers. Giving them easy access to message, email or call you.

I am hesitant because of what happened at Facebook (Instagram owners) and their business page. At first it all seemed good and then they started pushing you into a place where you realistically have to pay for exposure.

Not necessarily against the principle of paying for a service... but the Facebook likes for promoted business posts are very dubious, im my experience.

So I am hesitate to sacrifce my personal organic traction to end up trapped in a similar situation to Facebook business pages.

Yeah, that's a fear, but I realized that if that's the way things are going, just leaving the account as a personal account probably won't be a problem solver. I changed over to a business account and there are benefits: metrics, advertising insights, and the ability to advertise. The fact is, if it ends up being bad, I'll cross that bridge later, along with everyone else, and we'll all adapt and be fine.
