Wouldn't it be fun to see one of your photos go viral? We just never quite know when one of our photos hits a thread with the right person, they share it, and the photo is suddenly being talked about by hundreds of thousands. This evening, wedding photographer Sascha Reinking, suspected he might have seen a celebrity, Zach Braff, photobombing a wedding photo he took while on the streets of NYC and tweeted the photo to him not expecting much to happen. About an hour later the photo is being seen by hundreds of thousands of people.
As Reinking was going through his photos from a recent wedding he thought he spotted someone familiar photobombing the wedding couple as they shared a kiss on the streets of New York City. He shared the photo to his Facebook page with the caption, "I might be mistaken but is that Zach Braff photobombing my newlywed couple?! Only in New York..."
Braff has been in numerous movies and television shows but most famously known by his starring role in the television series "Scrubs" which aired from 2001-2010. Reinking then tweeted the photo over to Zach Braff to see if he would admit the photobomb. "@zachbraff Sir, I think you photobombed my newlywed couple the other day in New York. Well played."
Braff admitted to the photobomb by tweeting out the photo out to his 1.3 million followers on Twitter, "This is one of my best photobombs ever."
Within two hours the photo has been retweeted over 3300 times. (Edit: 12 hours since the original tweet and it has now been retweeted over 8000 times and picked up by most of the major news organizations.)
What a thrill that has got to be for Sascha. I just love seeing photos go viral!

The photographer stood on a cross walk, the couple stood on the other across the street.
...except for the cars driving behind the couple, and both crosswalks being visible, your theory was sound...
Take a couple steps back from the cross walk and stand between two cars. Let me know if you need me to draw a picture.

There is a through street behind them as well as a crosswalk. Clearly the photographer isn't on another crosswalk across the intersection. Need me to draw a picture to show you are wrong?
exactly.. my guess its a one way street so there are no cars on the side of the photographer in the way to get the shot of the couple in the crosswalk
Wow.... I'm not even a photographer and I noticed a few things (and did some research).
First, it's an AWESOME photograph. :) Beautiful shot which just 'happens' to have Braff in the background. ;)
1. It's a two way street behind the couple. Car behind couple going to the right. Car to left of couple going to the left. Two way street. But see #4 below. ;)
2. With the STREET behind the couple, it's not shot THROUGH the intersection unless there's another IMMEDIATE intersection behind the photographer and that would just be weird. (It's not, see #4).
3. Even in the city that doesn't sleep, it doesn't mean that every crosswalk is packed with people 24 hours a day. ;)
4. If you looked at the photo on Sascha Reinking's sight and the comments, you'd see that he actually says that this is at 42nd street with Times Square in the background. I checked Google Maps and it's shot on 7th Avenue (which is one way come TOWARDS the photographer - as was suspected). It 'could' be a mirror image of a photograph taken on Broadway (so the Walgreens is on the proper side) but then you'd have the Broadward Pedestrian Mall in the background and there aren't any rails.

that section of Times Square is blocked to cars I believe -- you can only cross from east to west :)
I have done this before.. i literally stood up in the middle of the streets. People loved it!

Love all the research you guys did. :) Here is is how I shot it: REALLY REALLY FAST!!! :) The "trick" is to find a one way street so you only need to watch the traffic in one direction. That's actually not that hard in New York. I like this spot because you can see Times Square in the background. We are on the intersection for a max. of 5 seconds. I have the couple "study" the pose before we go on and then it happens real quick. I make them stand at the edge of the cross walk so people, like Zach Braff, can cross behind them. I like the look of people crossing in my shots. Hope that helps. :)

Yeah. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that. That's what I was referring to. It's awesome that she put it there, and situations like this are why I applaud watermarked images.
It's too bad the photographers website is under construction. This would be a great opportunity to show best work.

Is it just me or is this whole "photobombing" thing getting obnoxious? I'm definitely from an older generation so my reaction when I see someone taking a wedding photo or just taking a photo in general is to get out of their way.
The entire goal of photo bombing is to be obnoxious. Its like saying "Hershey bars are getting so chocolatey."
Except Hershey bars don't have a 'goal'.
Of course they do. They're chocolatey. That's the whole point. If you're complaining about a hershey bar being so chocolatey, then you're missing the point of hershey bars.
I think it's somewhat obnoxious to take a picture in the middle of NYC and expect everyone else to work around you, quite frankly.
