How That Creepy LG Commercial Was Shot With Jason Statham Acting as Everyone

For me, commercials are supposed to be fun and entertaining while I wait for what I am actually watching to come back on. If they want to grab my attention and sell me on a product, what better way then to add Jason Statham acting as every single person in an action sequence? The boys at Energy BBDO have created a concept that is over the top and exactly what you would think of when star Statham is fighting his way through the busy streets. Check out the behind-the-scenes video and snapshots below to see how in depth they went.

BBDO and LG began with 120 cameras plotting every inch of Statham's head to get multiple facial expressions and angles with lighting to later create masks for doubles. These would then be used to cast every single character in the background scenes as Statham without too much motion capture. Then Statham and his actual stunt double would act each scene multiple times in each position fighting each other that would then be mapped to only his face.

It's a pretty fun concept to see someone fight themselves or act alongside a clone in any form, but to replace every single character in the frame with Statham was just great. You can even see quick glimpses of a baby in a stroller which just looks way out of place but it works. What did you think? Can you count how many Statham's are in the TV spot?

I love how, after all that, they feel the need to add in the fine print of 'professional stunts, do not attempt' or whatever it exactly said. The ad is pretty cool tho; but they'll need to sell a lot of phones to pay for it I think

I think the music is 99% of the reason it gives off a creepy vibe. With standard comedy/action movie music, it probably would have been pretty cool.

60 second commercial with what seems to be 100 jump cuts makes it difficult to enjoy the "story" and the artistry in making it. Just saying.
