UPDATE: Original video was removed, but we found it again! In order to make our subjects look their best we need to be shooting them from the correct angles. Peter Hurley is the master at this and in his DVD he gives so many fantastic tips on how to accomplish taking photos of people looking their best. This YouTube video that popped up today on Reddit is probably the best example I have yet to see of how the simple change of an angle will give your subject an entirely different look. This is might just be the best 14 seconds of your day!
This is highly unusual, and super unlucky for both the golfer and the camera guy. Today in the first round of the British Open, Pro Thomas Bjorn chipped a ball out of the "rough" on the first hole and struck a very expensive camera. An estimated $80,000 camera to be exact. There isn't much else to say other than watch this, then check out how crazy the damage looks. Yikes.
A Facebook page out of Korea, We Do Photoshop is somewhat of a...well I don't how to describe this exactly. After looking at the page, words have become difficult to muster on how to properly explain in detail what's going on over there.
It seems that the Facebook page (with over 36,000 thumbs up) was put together around the end of June so that people can upload their photos and request free photo manipulations.
The dreaded Myspace Angle, a condition that has plagued countless of self portraits for years. The extended armed and high angled photos still clutter up our Facebook newsfeeds long after Myspace whittled down to music bands and glitter graphics. Is it safe to assume that even Superheroes take the time out of their busy 'saving humanity' schedules to take a selfie? Apparently they do.
Benjamin Grelle better known as 'The Frogman' scours the internet to bring you a daily dose of humor to your otherwise mediocre day. Not only is Benjamin a pretty successful blogger, but a creative photographer, as well. Recently Benjamin created 'Warp Dogs', a cute and unique series of photos of dogs doing what they love most while traveling... hanging their heads outside of the car's windows, but at warp speed.
Stuck in the car on a boring road trip with the parents this 4th of July? Well here is a list of 10 creative apps to help pass the time. From drawing with words to finding what color the back of your dad's head really is. Check out the mostly iPhone friendly list, sorry Droid fans!
Apple Computers has become the staple for photographers, videographers, and graphic designers everywhere (Stay strong, PC friends). In their recent press conference, Apple unveiled the new Mac Pro, and the design was considered eccentric to say the least. It didn't take long before the Photoshop users of the world to get their hands on the images, which make for some pretty hilarious results.
Dave Engledow is not just a great photographer, but he's a pretty awesome Dad, as well. After the birth of his daughter Alice Bee he wanted to document her childhood in the most creative way he could. Not a professional photographer (Dave works in progressive politics and worker's rights), but the photos are well shot and thought out. If you're wanting a little parental inspiration and a few laughs click below. Happy Father's Day!
The debate on retouching is definitely a heated one, and none so much more than the retouching done on celebrities. Just recently Noam Galai posted about the unrealistic retouching done on the new Beyonce ad from Cavalli. Keeping the topic open take a look at these animated .gifs of celebrities before and after the royal Photoshop treatment. Do you think retouchers sometimes go too far, or do they look acceptable to you?
Stage 5 TV is known for their clever take on geek culture with high production value. Their latest project is a fun video parody of one of television's best shows, 'Game of Thrones'. Many times parodies are filmed with DSLRs, so it's nice to see a company raise the level and use higher-end equipment like the RED cameras. WARNING: Vulgar Language.
Throw a party, toss in 11 kegs of beer and a photo booth with a Phantom Miro shooting at 1500fps and what do you get? The guys over at Bruton Stroube found out and I have got to say I can't wait to be part of one of these events. I could not stop smiling while watching the video and all the fun setups they put together. I imagine being there must have been an unforgettable night. Then again with 11 kegs of beer maybe no one actually would have remembered what happened if it were not for the video evidence.
Do you ever feel like you're not hanging around enough celebrities? Maybe you wish you were court-side at a Laker's game sharing an emotional moment with Kobe, or maybe you'd rather be wrapped around Kim Kardashian like couch upholstery? If any of these things are true, you might be Peeje T - a pretty creative guy with a pretty good sense of humor and a knack for photoshopping himself into pictures with the likes of Jay Z, Beyonce, Rihanna, Alisha Keys and Kobe Bryant, among others.
The hilariously creative people over at Grovo (gogorovo on YouTube) posted this video yesterday showing what life may look like in the future of GWC photography/videography if Google Glass ever becomes the next big innovation it claims to be. While it's obvious that this is just some tongue in cheek humor, I'd imagine that as with any popular product with a built-in camera someone will try to find their niche (ever see someone taking photos with an iPad?) and soon youtube will be flooded with videos of wedding photographers running around the ceremony staring at people.
Here is a funny glimpse into the comic shenanigans that happened during a photo shoot for Fast Company's 100 Most Creative People with Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele.
In this video directed and produced by Casey Rodgers, the two improv comedians are on set riffing off the cuff with their hilarious
Instead of hiring a photographer to shoot original images, Samsung has recently been caught in the act of "artfully" (read: shamelessly) replacing an iPhone with a Galaxy S4 in an advertising campaign. It's not that they can't do this kind of thing as it's not illegal, but more the fact that they did it at all, and that it was over an original image featuring their main competitor. Really Samsung?
