Fstoppers BTS Video Contest Entries Volume 1

everycontest Fstoppers BTS Video Contest Entries Volume 1

Lee and I decided months ago that it would be exciting to have a contest on Fstoppers to see what our readers can do behind a camera. Over the course of 3 months we received over 80 submissions from YOU, our readers! There is no possible way that we can share all 80+ of these videos on the front of Fstoppers but we believe that everyones work deserves the chance to be seen. We have decided upload every submission in 4 threads so that everyone has the opportunity to easily view these videos. In the next few days Lee and I will choose our favorite videos. These videos will be voted on by the community, and the winner will win a Canon 7D or Nikon D300s. A lot of time has been given for these videos so we hope you guys enjoy watching them as much as we did. Thanks again to everyone for getting up, going out, and creating something interesting!

Really nice of you guys to do this contest, Maybe next time I will get a chance to submit a video.

What a great contest idea. I am really enjoying the videos and getting some great ideas and tips. The one thing that I am not happy with, is the use of unlicensed music. You would think photographers would have a little more understanding and respect for copyright.

              • c.d.embrey

@Stewart, the people who complain about people stealing a photo from Flickr are some of the biggest stealers of music! Many beginning photographers don’t understand copyright and how it applies to them. It ain’t all that hard to license music from beginning bands (or some established ones). Or use a program like “Garage Band” to create your own.

Some great videos on here.. love the tips and techniques I’ve learned from them!

As for the unlicensed music topic, I would think these qualify for fair use as it’s non-commercial. But maybe I’m mistaken.

wow so many great videos! I know what I’m doing during my lunch break! :-)

              • Matt

Although it is obviously up to the artist. I don’t see a problem using their music as a backing track. It can’t be copied as there is talking ontop of it, and it promotes their music.
It is non-commercial. Most videos quote tracks and artists.

I have in fact bought 3 albums from a band i first heard on a BTS video (ages ago), and also i’m about to buy a track i head on an Fstoppers BTS video.

I wouldn’t mind if someone promoted my photography, for a non-profit use, which couldn’t be copied.
