Viltrox Warns Fujifilm X-Pro3 Owners: Don't Use Our Lenses

Having recently released a batch of new lenses for Fujifilm cameras, Viltrox has been forced to issue a warning, as its 23mm, 33mm and 85mm X-mount lenses may cause damage when used with the Fujifilm X-Pro3.

In a statement published on its Facebook page, Viltrox warns owners of the Fujifilm X-Pro3 that attaching one of its new lenses can potentially scrape against the lens release button, as it sits too close the bayonet. Viltrox apologizes for any inconvenience caused by what it describes as a “structural conflict.”

“They are perfectly compatible with Fujifilm X-T3 and X-T4,” Viltrox is keen to point out.

If you have any questions for Viltrox, the company seems to be responding promptly to inquiries made on its Facebook page.

From the photograph posted to Fuji Rumors, the damage seems to be superficial, and some in the comments mention that the paintwork on the X-Pro3 is not the most resistant. One user reports having happily used the Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 for several months and has only noticed the scratch as a result of the announcement.

Do you own the X-Pro3 and any Viltrox lenses? Is the damage purely superficial? Let us know in the comments below.

One of the risks of buying third party stuff. Problems don't occur all that often these days, but that obviously doesn't mean that they can't happen as evidenced here. Fortunately, this one seems to just be a superficial scratch.

Sigma had a problem like that when the Pentax K1 first came out. It was such a little scratch that most people probably wouldn't even notice it. You could send your lenses back to Sigma and they would make some sort of adjustment for free so it wouldn't scratch.

Well I have no Viltrox lens, and I have the same issue with my X-Pro3. Looks inevitable and didn't bother me.

Conveniently they don’t mention this on Fujirumors and the flaming of Viltrox is in full flow unfortunately.

Hey Penny. So this is an issue with the X-Pro3 rather than the Viltrox lenses?

I had a look at all my lenses (Fujifilm and third party), and I think it was scratched by Mitakon 35mm f.095 lens. (My Laowa lenses are fine.)
It doesn't bother me as long as there's no fuctional damage.

Wow. It's cool they owned up to it before it became a bigger problem.

I use Viltrox's 85mm f1.8. Didn't notice minor scratch until finished reading Viltrox's "gentle" reminder. YES, there's scratch due to the bayonet mounting gap and lens release button. Compared to the result given, this MINOR scratch does not bother me at all.
