One Arm Control

Alex posing for me reading a book while locked off with one arm. I setup 2 alien bees B800s on either side of the athlete and modified them with softboxes and grids to create the diffused light, but manage the fall-off onto the background.

Really like the irony of this photo! It would be cool if it was him hanging from a hold so that it implied climbing required strength and problem solving

Thanks Tyler! Maybe I'll have him do this on a climbing hold too :)

What did you use as the background?

The background is actually just the back wall. I set my exposure so that none of the ambient light was visible and set the power of the lights fairly high in order to properly expose the athlete. Grids on the softboxes also helped control the light that spilled onto the background.

I think I'm going to have to try this in my climbing gym. Hey, would you mind checking out my photos on my profile and giving some feedback? I have some similar categories as you do. Thanks in advance
