Monarch chrysalis

This image was captured in the prime of Spring at a local botanical garden. This hidden gem was daintily dangling from the rear of a large, decorative planter pot. I utilized my tripod to get a wide depth of field at f/16. This allowed me to emphasize the rough texture of the planter pot against the smooth, lucid Monarch chrysalis. A hint of fill & accent light from my Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT enhanced the pearlescent quality of the Monarch chrysalis. This image showcases one of the many reasons why Monarch butterflies are a planetary treasure.
