Cygnus Overhead

April is an awesome time of year. There is a limited period where (at least 50 degrees north) throughout the night a bunch of different large deep space objects are above the horizon and they lend themselves to perfect backdrops for telephoto landscapes. I had a composition in mind for the Cygnus region only to drive to that site to find the tree I wanted to photograph had been knocked down. I decided to take advantage of the unique window of time and at least get my sky tracked and composite it with a tree I took last year for this purpose in mind (alignment works perfectly). Little did I know when I set up my tracker that aurora would fire up along the distant horizon and add that extra punch to the night sky
