The Stadskanaal Foundation Rail , known Museumspoorlijn S • T • A • R on June 26, 1992, created with the aim to preserve the historic railway Veendam - Stadskanaal - Musselkanaal and operate a tourist railway on this route. The track runs along the border of Groningen and Drenthe. With a length of 26 km. it is the longest railway museum in the Netherlands. One of the historic trains is the large steam locomotive TE 5933. addition, the STAR still has 17 diesel and steam locomotives and several dozen historic wagons and carriages.
