Falling Down

Lightning strikes do not come to often in Southern California but when it does its rarely visible and you rarely see it hit the ground. When this storm hit, I knew it was special. I drove to a vantage point near my home and then stood in the pouring rain slightly down a hillside so that I was not the tallest object on the top of a tall hill. I watched this cell move right over my head and then a few minutes later it blessed me with this shot.

The motive behind the name was inspired by the movie, "Falling Down" starring Michael Douglas. Towards the end of his meltdown he jumps the fence of a fancy country club wearing tactical clothing and looking quite militant as he strolled through the country club. If you look at the left most bolt and the thickest one to the right of it, you can see the resort in between. It actually looks like the largest bolt is striking the golf course from the movie.
