The Kootenai River comes from Canada, (Kootenay there), goes through Montana and over these falls, then into Idaho, and back north into Canada again, where it joins the Columbia, which then flows back into the U.S.
This view is looking downriver and was shot from a rock outcrop near the middle of this series of waterfalls.
