The Wednesday Rundown 2.23.11

Howdy, and welcome to the Wednesday Rundown. This week Lee and Patrick are off in Vegas for the WPPI. I got the privilege of video chatting with them last night and they seem to be doing just fine. This week we have a video response the the candle wax shoot shown on the front page and a cool portrait shoot on a wind turbine. If you have a video that you think we might like to post, please click on "submit content" above.

Candle Wax Shoot:

A cool video that uses some plexiglass and candle wax. I like this mixed shoot and the final images turn out very creative.

Turbine Portrait:

A different portrait shoot on top of a wind turbine. How did this guy get clearance for this? Very unique idea to capture the worker in his true environment.

Fitness Magazine:

A shoot with some hot bodies in a gym. Check out the front over magazine shoot.

Sorry for the delay guys I have been knocked out by the flu!

Turbine shoot::

I'm the photographer of the turbine shoot.

It's actually not a worker, but a politician from Germany's green party. The portrait will see usage as PR material in his election campaign (state parliament elections in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, March 20th, 2011). Making a connection between jobs (the turbines are built in town) and environmental responsibility (green party program).

Getting permission was super easy. Basically a phone call and a few emails were exchanged with their PR and lobby department. They even send a lobby representative over to attend the shoot.

The turbine company took care of everything. In my 10+ years in the industry, I have never ever experienced such a well organised and smooth shoot.

The shoot got moved four or five times, due to schedule or weather issues. But after 4 weeks, we finally made it happen.

links dont work.

Thanks for the back story Bastian, very cool how this shoot came about.

What links are you talking about Martin?

candle wax video comes all the way from wobble-wobble land...

Great pictures bastian, the weather was really lousy and was pointing to boring pictures! congrats.

The candle wax video is almost an identical idea of a video I saw of another photographer but his was with paint... Almost an exact copy.
Hmmm...

Yeah David, I think that was the whole point, he watched a video and reproduced the effects in his own photography. Pretty good execution for sure!
