This was my first attempt at light painting a car and blending the exposures in Photoshop. It was shot at around 11pm with a Canon 7D mkII and 17-50 2.8 using a continuous light source in a 2ft soft box.

There are things here that I like and I don't. Over all, I think it really is a 2.5 star photo, maybe 3. Its definitely not a snapshot. The background is nice. On the right, there is a lot of negative space, but I think it works. The big issue is the car itself. It just seems flat, as if it was over exposed. That may just be because its a white car with few sharp angles on it. But the car for me is what takes this photo down a bit.

Yeah, I was struggling to compose this image to keep the city in the shot, but also not make the car too small. The space on the right was to keep the base of the tall building from being cropped off. The space on the left was to to keep the car near the right third of the image and to try to show the light trails on the road leading to the bridge.
I also agree that the car seems blown out and a bit flat. But, like I said, this was my first attempt at light painting and maybe a white car wasn't the best choice. Better luck next time, right?
