I gave this a 3 because I really like the composition and tones, but I think it would be a much better image at f4-ish. Really nice image, sad to read the story behind it though :(

It's a nice tip since, usually, I go for wider apertures to simply isolate better the subject. Somehow it could help here.
I really like the use of light here, it brings your attention right to her.
