I mean, why not wait an hour and a half to shoot it in golden hour? Also, pull those chairs out of the frame and get in a bit tighter. Faster shutter speed too so that he's got no motion blur.

Thank you for the critique. The shoot wasn't really planned and it was already 100 degrees out so I was concerned about my camera overheating so (its happened before) we didn't stay out to long. I do like the idea of redoing it and wither using a flash slave trigger to get a cleaner image but i still need to buy the receiver for my flash, (my gear isn't there just yet but i'm working on it. ) or possibly keeping the flash open as a longer exposure to introduce some motion; Thank you for the idea Mason and the critique.

you won't be able to freeze motion in daylight with a flash. You need your image to basically be dark pre-flash otherwise you will still get motion blur.

I agree with Mr. Moyer the chairs distract and the wires

couple things. 1/200th is way too slow for sports. You want to be at a minimum of 1/1000th for most sports unless you are completely freezing the action with a strobe. I would move the chairs and change your view. get down low and close with that 24 to add some unique perspective and make him feel larger than life. Maybe even shoot in silhouette with the exposure done for the sky. One thing that will help you a lot is to learn not to fight the scene, but allow yourself to embrace it.
