with the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge in back at the left, the amazing Statue of liberty at the right, the One World Trade center flanking the great Empire. catching all of this in during sunset was pretty astonishing.
the amount of detail is stunning.
*TO HELP ME BE A BETTER PHOTOGRAPHER, INSTEAD OF RATING LOW AND RUNNING OFF. SHOOT ME A NOTE ON WHAT YOU THINK COULD MAKE IT BETTER. I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT*
Hi Jeff,
As per your request:
I like the composition and I think it's close to a great shot. There are 2 things I notice that I would say could be better;
1). You say it was sunset, but I don't see this in the picture (it looks like a couple hours before sunset). The sky looks almost white, as if you didn't use a filter or exposure bracketing. I think the typical sunset light would've made this an awesome view and increased the rating by a full star.
2). This is not a major one, but it looks like there is some barrel distortion, it's not perfectly straight.
Anyway, that's just my opinion.
-Leon
P.S. I rated 3 stars
thanks so much for the input, i think i should have been more specific, this was the start of golden hour (sun was probably 11 degrees above horizon) so not technically 'sunset'.
it definitely would have been awesome to stick around for sunset/blue hour. the colors would've been intense :)
Hey Jeff,
Love the photo and the detail. One thing that my eye is asking for is to have the building on the right be either fully in-frame, or gone completely.
All in all captures the essence of Manhatthan. Well done!
