EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM

EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM

Who It’s For:

The Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM is a professional telephoto lens and one of the three lenses that any professional photographer with a Canon camera will own (Along with the 16-35mm and 24-70mm). This lens has been updated by the IS II model, but this is still a great lens and can be a bit of a bargain.

What We Like:

Sharpness: This is one of the sharpest 70-200mm lenses we’ve seen.

Distortion: The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM has a very small amount of distortion, a lot less at f/2.8 than a lot of other lenses we’ve seen.

Case: This has nothing to do with actual photography, but the camera comes with a very nice padded case standard which makes storage and transport much easier.

Weight: This seems counter intuitive, but for a lens of this type, if it has decent weight to it, it’s going to be easier to stabilize.

Price: Since this lens has been updated, you should be able to get this for quite a bit less than you could a few months ago.

What We Don’t:

Flare: It’s not the best lens in the world for pointing into the sun, but it’s still not bad. We’re digging for things we don’t like here because this lens is really very good.
