Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM

Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM

Who It’s For:

The Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM is Canon’s professional 300mm prime lens for sports and headshot photographers. If you absolutely need f/2.8 at 300mm, this is the lens for you, but if you shoot mostly in daylight, you might want to gravitate towards the f/4 model. This is the updated version of this lens and is an incredible piece of glass.

What We Like:

Autofocus: The autofocus on this lens is very fast and super accurate

IS: Canon has updated this lens with a more powerful IS system.

Bokeh: This lens produces some gorgeous bokeh.  If you absolutely need the background to be completely soft, this is a great lens.

Distortion: There is a  minimal amount of distortion on this lens, which is excellent.

Sharp: This lens is fantastically sharp. This is one of the sharpest lenses that Canon makes.

What We Don’t:

Size: This is a massive lens, and is definitely not for hand holding. Invest in a good monopod.

Price: All we can say is ouch. This is a lens for wealthy amateurs and professionals who really have to have it. If you need it, you know it and you’ll probably already have one, but if you don’t, check out the links below.
