Who It’s For:
The Sigma 180mm f/2.8 Macro is a new lens from Sigma and is for those who need a little extra reach from the Sigma 150mm f/2.8 while still having Macro capabilities. This is also a great lens for portraits, especially headshots. So, if you need to get much closer to your subject with extreme close focus abilities, but you’d also like a well built portrait lens, this is the one for you.
What We Like:
Build Quality: The metal casing on this camera is an upgrade from the previous model and should stand up to pretty much anything you throw at it. Within reason of course.
OS: Sigma’s Optical Stabilizer technology allows up to four extra stops of shooting handheld.
HSM: Sigma’s Hyper Sonic Motor Autofocus allows for very fast, very quiet autofocus.
Coatings: This lens has three FLD elements which will provide correction for color aberrations.
What We Don’t:
It’s Not Nikon/Canon: This is a personal opinion, but off brands are off brands. That being said, this is an excellent lens that is a great deal.
Great for portraits.
