I've recently set up a new work station and have been going through the process of color calibrating my new iMac display. It's been my experience that getting a print to match what's seen on the screen requires equal parts science and intuition. I have pretty good luck with colors matching but screen/print brightness seems tricky. Sometimes when I get an image looking good in the print it's far to bright on the screen, even though the histogram looks good. This can be problematic when I'm delivering a shot to a client who may use the photograph both in a print form as well as digitally. Does anyone recommend creating two versions of the same image or does this simply boil down to selecting a more appropriate brightness for the display during calibration?
