This flare that appears from bright point lights occurs with my Makinon 28mm f/2.8 lens, and I haven't seen any other references to this type of flare online. I can control the rotation and "pose" of the wings in-camera by adjusting the position of the light source in the frame. I sometimes try to incorporate the flare creatively to partially encircle my subject, fly over it, or use the wing to draw a line to the subject (as in the middle photo). This flare occurs only wide-open at f/2.8, and is distinctly different from the flare that results from the sun stopped down. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this, and if other photographers think it's a good tool to use for effect.
