Proper Focus Settings for Birds?

Hello! New to Fstoppers, so I thought posting here would be a good way to get started. I'm using a Sony a6400 with a Sony 200-600mm f5.6 lens. Just bought the lens and LOVE IT! However, I'm still struggling to get birds super sharp. I uploaded an example. Not horrible, but not as crisp as I'd like. In this case I shot using the hood of my truck at 1/250 - maybe too slow given it was at 555 millimeters (1/500+ would have been better, I know.)

Maybe it's just the shutter speed, but on other images I still don't get the sharpness I'd like. I'm currently shooting in continuous (servo) focus mode with object tracking turned on. Is that the setting that folks would recommend for birds and other wildlife that tend to move around on you?

Thanks, Jared
