Dean Wilson's picture

February choice: Ruth Carll

I am a Rookie in both the sense of "time-in-group" and "camera skill' as compared to Ruth Carll who, I believe, started this group and was gone long before I joined. Thank you Mr. Brown for keeping this group alive.

In viewing their photos I see that they and I have some commonality in photographing in different styles; reflection, ink in water, ICM, abstract, minimalist, black and white, experimental.

It is easy to see why they would start a group such as this.

I picked their photo "Tangerine Dream" because I like the colors, patterns, texture and lighting. I like that the image was flipped as it added a completely different feel to it as a plant with the placement colors. Lots of thought went into this planning and execution of this photograph.

I rate this photo as 4 - ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Excellent choice Dean, and thanks for doing your research.

For those newer to the group, as Dean points out Ruth started this group some years ago and ran the group until she had to take a step back.

Ruth experimented extensively with fluids such as this, a large number of which are displayed throughout her portfolio.

I hope others will visit Ruth's work, perhaps adding their favorites for others to view?
