Late Winter

Perhaps a bit late for our January challenge...... the weather I have been waiting for finally arrived in Vermont and I (reluctantly) dragged myself out of the house to face the cold.
My hope was to catch some figures braving the winter storm. Here's a couple as a sample (you may see the influence of Christophe Jacrot...), if interested further I've just added a blog entry.

As always, discussions and feedback around any of this is both encouraged (for the health of the group) and appreciated.

Our great Snowmageddon lasted about 3 minutes. If you didn't get the letter, it's because it's nothing to write home about.

Both photos are nice and pleasing to view. Especially inside a warm comfortable home.

#1 composition looks great with the subject at the 1/3rd mark and vast emptiness on the opposite side.

#2 This composition works well also. I like the structure balancing the subject in the frame. The leading line want's to know what is around the corner that is so important to brave such weather? It reminds me of how an Art Gallery will place the lighting to entice you around the corner to the next room.

Thanks for the feedback Dean.

It's funny you ask "what's around the corner" as that is literally image #1. All figures are actually following a path in a community park that wraps around playing fields.

As for composition, I really look for balance in the image and compose to whatever I feel best suits the story.
Often these decisions may fall in line with specific rules (and may describe the attraction), but that is not a primary intent.
