Christopher Suckow's picture

Venice pier

This is the Venice fishing pier in Venice, Florida.

playing around with some post processing to create an abstract to give an almost dreamy feel to the picture.
This was taken 3 years ago with my z7ii and just recently edited it.

Created 3 layers for smart filters and used two directions of "Path Blur" to get the direction of the motion blur.

I love playing around with motion blur in post-processing. This turned out very pretty. I love the colors. I wonder if you even would allow the pier to be slightly blurred if it wouldn't have a more abstract feel to it. Great job!

Thank you, and perhaps you are right.. here is another one similar with the person and life guard station not affected.

This is gorgeous, Christopher. I do like the life guard station being intact in this one. The colors are beautiful, the lines are just right, and all is composed so well! Nice work.

Nice Job! I l really like the life guard station photo. The only thing seems a little off to me is it looks like the person is in the middle of the water. I think I personally would like it better without the person altogether. But thats just me. I still like it either way.

I love how the sand looks like it's being blown by wind. I've been out on the beach when the sand actually looked like that in real life. I tried capturing it but wasn't able to to do it.

Nice work!

Thank you

By the way, the more I look at your original photo, I think maybe blurring where the pier touches the water?

Great job on these Christopher. You are combining a motion blur filter with a 'straight' layer to achieve these, correct? (details are always helpful for other members).

Keep posting, creative work is always welcomed (as are thoughts on other discussions).

Thanks Alan, created 3 layers for smart filters and used two directions of "Path Blur" to get the direction of the motion blur.

Ha, thanks for the explanation Christopher. Somehow in my eagerness to comment I missed that detail in your description on first viewing.

Hi Alan, you didnt miss it, i added it after you brought it to my attention.. team work lol have a great weekend
