Well, if I included the other Two, it would be mediumalist at best, and my life in this group could be very brief.
This image was inspired by Michael Kenna's simple images, and Hiroshi Sugimoto's ultra-simple seascapes (which would score an epic fail in any photo competition, the horizon bisecting an image with an often featureless sky and equally plain sea, lacking any "point of interest", dismally failing to adhere to the rule-of-thirds, etc). Both of these masters are monochrome specialists; I'm certainly not, but that probably prompted the subdued colour.
North coast, Tasmania.
You are an awesome photographer Chris! This is great. I love the extra long crop - the clouds and linear nature of the shot needed it. The blues are beautiful!
PS - I'm not starting a mediumalist group so you'll have to stay here.
Thanks, Ruth. That's very kind of you to say that. You're better than you give yourself credit for, with some great images, and very modest and open. LOVE your Heleboris.
You've really enlivened the scene here, so thanks for that too.
A friend of mine wanted this printed for him, if I could "fix" the blurred clouds I went to such effort to blur - three filters, unable to see what the hell I was doing in bright sunlight. He chose another two.
I've got a print almost a metre long at my office in a waiting area for psychiatry patients. Thought I couldn't go wrong with its placidity.
This is very kind Chris. I enjoy these groups and have already learned some neat things. Who knows, I might even shoot something right handed some day soon! !)
Actually, this is a left-handed image - the island "should" be at left! No wonder you're the only one who likes it. ;-)
