I recently found a few spots around where I currently live near Rochester, NY that feel a bit more like home to me. It is very difficult for me to find open spaces in western New York thanks to the over abundance of trees.
haha yeah east coast sucks in comparison i was just in aruba and got an awful feeling landing in philadelphia feeling like i would have nothing to shoot for a month until spring arrives
I’ve been to New Jersey a couple of times but not had the opportunity to photograph much out there. I did see a few spots that looked interesting though.
To be truthful, we try and keep this a secret so everyone doesn't come here, but New Jersey has some cool stuff! ;) We just cluster industry around Newark airport so no ones tries to venture in.
I visited an ww2 base that was the long range encampment for coastal defense. It was awesome and j really want to go back out and explore more. But year the area around Newark is a mess
That would probably be Sandy Hook. I have a huge volume of work taken there. If you ever do go, please let me know. There is also Battery Lewis right there which has that largest land to sea guns in the US. These doors will make you wonder what was going on there in WW2!
Ruth i was just up at the newark airport have you ever tried shooting that newish bridge at night looked interesting but the backdrop kinda sucks, plus i wasn't sure if safety was an issue
I haven't! I've heard that there are some great industrial subjects too. Trouble is Newark and the surrounds are that they are pretty rough areas. If I even got wind of a photo group going - maybe. You can get GREAT night new york skylines from this side of Raritan Bay though.
good to know my wife hates me going into philly but i stay in the heavily trafficked areas like the art museum and center city i did venture into camden one morning and felt very uncomfortable so i haven't gone back
Ian - so glad to see you here! I have commented on these beautiful images in the past so here I'll just say Welcome!
And .. I can't resist.. beautiful minimal landscapes!
Thank you so much for the welcome and kind words. I comments on the previous post so, thank you also for the recommendation to this group.
Ian I’m really liking these you you even put them in B&W and do a high contrast or high key and they would look stunning so many options with these
Thank You, Joseph.
I got lucky finding these spots. It is has been so hard to find scenes like what I am use to back in California.
