Heleboris

Heleboris is considered an antique flower as it is a old variety of landscape plants. I took this today. It was in the shade and I love the old fashion feel of the photo for this old fashion beauty.

Beautiful, Ruth! Well done. It reminds me a lot of the still life paintings of the old masters, most particularly the Dutch "Golden Century", with the flowers displayed against that dark background. The composition is more modern, and excellent. Love the atmosphere, the beautiful soft greens with that touch of magenta. Your love of plants shines through. Great job!

Thank you Chris. I was concerned that this was too dark. I appreciate the feedback!

No, it's beautiful as you've done it. Life emerging from nothingness. Inspiring, like the best of those Dutch painters' vanitas and pronkstilleven works, which are among my very favourite art works. I always make a beeline at our National Gallery of Victoria for two of ours, before I go anywhere else. Truly, you've captured a similar spirit.

Happy dancing!
