joseph cole's picture

about as minimal as you can get

With my tongue firmly planted in my cheek i looked for an image that i would think had something or rather nothing in the frame for a minimalist shot so i found this .....

Like it - I think! It's very sombre, which I realise is what it's all about, but it leaves me with a desire to "bring more out", given it has all those textures, and that puzzling shelf at the top. Is that dirty ice? BTW that shelf makes it much less minimalist. I'm always on the lookout for an image of just the surface texture of a body of water like this. Haven't managed a decent one since the Kodachrome days.

Here's my edit along the above lines, but it's really a different concept. Keep pushing the boundaries, Joseph! Interesting.

its an eroded and exposed coral shelf, i had it more like your rendition but i couldn't see the string of rope and floats besides i was just being a smart ass to see if this would even meet the criteria of minimalist but i will be going out and trying to get more minimalist images for practice and or shits and giggles ;)

I erased my original post both because I missed you intentions !) And because I thought the water was sand! But for fun, I did suggest going full on abstract and doing a texture/light grade [by cropping off the top third and a little off the bottom. Just realized that this post didn't make sense without this so added this part] - for s and gs!
