By walking in a steep canyon, I found this waterfall that i decided to photograph in a refined view just to keep the.dynamic of water in a deep steep and dark small valley.
I wanted the rocks to appear softly, whithout a lot of details to avoid doing a landscape photography. And I wanted the waterfall to be as a comma.
On the bottom floor of the photo, there is sedimentary bank I wanted more obvious. Probably, I have to use a software process.
This photography was shot in b&w with a 10 stop filter needing a long time exposure.
Hi David. Your photo didn't make it. Can you repost?
now, there you have it! sorry...
Well that was certainly worth waiting for. I would love you to post this in the pinned post at the top of this page as I think it is about the best minimal landscape I've seen. I'd love to hear your thoughts about minimalism as you really have a eye for this style.
I do have a thought about this image though and I honestly don't know if it is off base or not without seeing it. I wonder it the top of the waterfall should not touch the top of the frame. There is a part of me that feels that this might have been accidental which, for someone as particular as you are, would not be the case. I could be off base as I'm sure you were intentional here. This is just an observation.
Regardless - GREAT work!
:)
well, Ruth, thank you so much for your such nice words.
I will try to crop more accuratly the photography. But, in my souvenirs, I do remember no longer if it's possible. Whatever, I agree with what you say about the crop.
As to my definition about minimalim, I'd say that it deals about reaching the purity of things, only conserving the main elements of an object, a person, a landscape, to highlight the subject and keep the essential.
Here's a quick look to see if it really makes a difference. ??
it's better than mine... Really. But, i will throw an eye to my RAW this evening to see if this crop is really a mistake by me, or a choice I did voluntarily.
Here is an other photography I took no so far from this waterfall comma :

David - this is also so beautiful. You are a gifted photographer! Your black and what waterfalls are spectacular!
Merci beaucoup !
well..... impossible to find back the original photography. Then I'll have to go back on the field, hike up to the waterfall and take a new picture!
Lucky you! It looks like a beautiful place to visit!
Great image, David! "Brave" to make it so dark, when most would want to show more rock detail. But you clearly know what you're trying to do. I love your 500px image too.
I do agree with Ruth about the top of the falls - it would look better to me if it didn't touch the edge. The effect is somewhat of cutting the image in two, rather than isolating a sliver - comma if you like - of water in the void. This is minor, though.
I'm about to try to find a better image this evening. Thanks a lot for your smart feedback 😊
