It sure does work, Ruth! The graphics are so strong that the mono works very well, but I do like those earthy tonings - dust to dust. Masterly composition, with the shadow dominating the thing itself.
You know what my favorite thing about this one is? It is a great example of how you can find something to shoot anywhere. Even on the side of the road!
So cool! I like the B&W on this one. I'd like to see one with just the thorny one too. I don't if if would look better, but it might. It is awesome how you get such contrasting lines from the same object on this. My only other thought is that I wonder how it would look if the strands were not contacting the rail at the top so the connection was even less apparent.
Well I just might have to do a little testing with this. There is a marsh near me where the vines all hang down into the road. The guard rail always has a bunch of cool shadows. I usually try and control myself but now ... in the name a research .....
