Just took my phone out for a few minutes while the kids played to practice looking for interesting stuff. I think some of these turned out kinda cool. Am I fooling myself?
Nope. You're not fooling yourself. These are a lot to give feedback on in a single post but there are some things to share. As you read, though, keep in mind that I think you are on the right path and these are not bad at all!
Images 1, 2 and 4 I really like ... Except for the color. This is just me. I've never been a sepia fan (or toned B/W). But composition on these is good and the choice of monochrome was wise. I'd just prefer straight out B/W.
Images 3 and 7 are also very nice. Good choice to keep in color. Love the emphasis on 'round' in 3 and lines in 7.
Images 5 and 6 don't do much for me but you can't win them all right? :)
I think you should keep working in this style. Read the definition of abstract in the first post at the top of the page and let your creative lead you to cool things!
PS - evaluating images help educate your eye so giving feedback, or at least really looking at the other posts here is a great way to advance. Our eyes need exercise just like our brains! Don't hesitate to participate in discussion.
Thanks, and Ill try to participate more. Its funny, I really wanted to make a cool picture outa that dumb ball, but it wasn't working. Some others I though this might not look good but Ill try it anyway and they looked pretty good.
I especially like the first two, Amos! The composition in the first is spot-on. In the second, if possible I'd try to leave a little breathing space above the pole. I'd even consider cheating to clone on some extra sky, and then crop to suit.
As Ruth says, keep working this style. And I don't mind the sepia at all.
