I do abstract painting which I then photograph. While some may say that taking a photograph of a painting is cheating, I make the paintings for the purpose of photographing them so it is all part of the single process of producing a piece of art.
Feedback Welcome.
I agree. It Can be a completion.
Glad you told us, Ruth, or I'd have gone mad(der) trying to work out what it was! Very much "you" in style, reminiscent in various ways of various photo images of yours. One thing I'm curious about - what medium do you use? (For me, the appeal of abstracts in oil or acrylic is partly from the 3D texture, the impasto, so I used to paint in these viscous media.)
These are made with acrylic interior house paint thinned with water and Floetrol. If the paint isn't fairly thin, it doesn't flow into the patterns. I agree the texture would be awesome. However the patterns are created by tilting, rocking and spinning the canvas to move the paint and the thinned paint is mobile. I just got a custom request for one I'll make today. Hopefully all flows well and I'll post something tomorrow!
;)
Good luck with the chance element, Ruth! Hope you do post it.
This is still wet so this is just a quick shot. This is the whole piece. The next step after it is dry is looking for interesting stuff within the whole. I think of it like hunting. There are cool images in here just waiting to be found! :)
I like this, Ruth! Understated, it's not. So you'll look for sections, details to photograph as works in themselves? Then, you get more compositional control?
Exactly!
Neat! Now I get it. :-)
Beautiful piece Ruth, I particularly enjoy how the colors progress and somewhat evolve through the piece. Wonderful to look at!
