Simplicity

I've been experimenting with long exposures lately. This was shot earlier today using a 10 stop ND filter for 13 seconds at F8 and ISO 200.

Home sweet home for this image!

BTW, I don't think I would darken the underwater log like you mention in the other group. But if you do, you can edit this original post and add the second photo so people can see them side by side.

Welcome to M, A & B! Please read the post pinned to the first spot for descriptions of the group's topics. Comments are very welcome here. Don't feel shy! All levels welcome. And as Alan says "we all have eyes and brains and therefore opinions to share". Well it's something like that anyway!

:)

I wasn't thinking darkening the log. I was talking about the water at the top of the image. I feel like it's just a tad too bright. Might go in and burn it just a bit.

thanks for the feedback!

Oh! Got it! Good because darken the log would be silly. 🤣

Yes, Ruth. :-)

Hi. Minimalist composition is good.
While at similar frames, I have learnt to use circular polariser filter. That would have filtered the glare where the right log is inside the water. Both wooden logs could be given more "clarity" in LR. I have started focusing manually at field to avoid having blurry image (or subject) on screen after coming back. white balance can also be experimented for warmer and cooler tones as options.
keep shriing !!

Thanks! I did use a polarizer on the image, but maybe it didn’t cut out all the glare.

I also experimented with different white balances. The original image was kind of brown and muddy, but felt like the cool blue tones works the best.

Very impressive, Jason! Love the composition, the blues (I'm a sucker for blue), and those gentle waves - I don't know how they survived 13s exposure, but I'm glad they did!

I'd be tempted to darken the top a tad too, but I wouldn't be surprised if you prefer this in the end. I've just tried such an edit, and I don't think it improves the image, ultimately. But as Ruth said, you could add such an edit.

Post more!

Thanks! The water was a little choppy when I took this image, so I did luck out a bit!
