Ha!! I totally love them this way. It was a great suggestion from our group.
I can't make these work in black and white. This one is the only one that looked half decent and it's not good. If you can do these well in monochrome - that would be something!
Wow again! All stunners, Ruth. Quite mesmerising. Hard to pick a winner, but maybe the fourth - something classical and mysterious about the tonings. And I love your monochrome version of it.
I won't mention exploding spermatozoa - oh, I just did...
I really like number one here, my favorite so far of your ink work.
If i was to nitpick, I would suggest removing any floating air bubbles that can be easily seen, especially in the lighter backgrounds. There are wonderful painterly forms and textures here, as I view them I enjoy the fact of forgetting the "under water" (or whatever fluids you are using) technique part, the bubbles distract my eye and remind me of the technical.
Interesting point. I don't mind them, for some reason. I guess the images don't totally rely on their ambiguity to be effective for me. They are magical, though! Looking again at the second more closely, I think that the little bubble at left, while not essential to the composition, enhances it for me. I'm keeping my bubbly versions, before you edit them out, Ruth!
I was wondering when you were going to start inverting the images. :). Very nice effect.
(Dammit. Now I'll need to think of a different gimmick.)

I do like the very first one, subtle, light.
Thanks David!!

Thank Chris. I was prepared for gassy mushrooms so you didn't catch me quite unprepared this time!

Arggg bubbles! I will definitely get rid of them. I can't believe I didn't notice them!! Thanks Joe!
