so when i went to the reservoir this morning the light started pouring through new growth and it lit up like a Christmas tree in focus it was boring... out of focus well it made this effect

Out of focus. Sorry Joe! I think abstracts still need to have some structure. BUT - this is just me. I have definitely seen some interesting out of focus shots.
If you post the original, I'd love to see if there is something in it.
