These are two very slightly different versions of an image two frames before the one I posted yesterday. As dark as these are, it was actually a very bright day.
For the techno-geeks, this is 35 mm Tri-X, developed in HC-110 back in 1974. I don't remember what dilution, but it was always as a one-shot so I was always working with fresh developer. I scanned this on an Epson V550 flatbed scanner (I now use a Nikon Super Coolscan 4000 ED, which is considerably better) using Vuescan software. The scan was a bit soft (which is why I spent the money for the Nikon) so post-processing included a trip through Topaz Sharpen AI. Then came the usual hour or two removing dust and scratches.
Hi Andrew,
I love the backlight on these thistles. They are such a sturdy flower and your image gives them a delicateness that is lovely.
I do prefer the first one. I can't even say why though! I just do!
Keep them coming!
