I was wondering if this was cropped in landscape format, if the curve of the hilltop would become more of a focal point as there is a lot of sky in this image. I tried the crop below and it might or might not!
I did notice, however, once the hilltop was close to the top edge that it is slightly crooked (the left edge is higher than the right) so I straightened it too. This is not an issue in the portait format but if you do try a landscape format it is noticable.
Overall I like this one either way. I would like to hear your thoughts about the format.
Hello Ruth,
Thanks for your reply.
Well, the crop has not been changed. The crop is right the top of the moutain. A curved and dulled summit. As to the sky, I like inserting some in my photographies . the aim is to give some "perspective in height", increase te sensation of height, the feeling of being on a summit and then being surrounded by nothing else but sky and clouds.
On the other hand, the borrder between the pathway and the heather may not be a good choice from me. It makes a non-balance photography. Actually, I tried to emphasize the soil in differenciating the rocks (left), the pathway (middle) and the heather (right). And it's probably not a succcess.
Interesting! I think this one might work best if you went for one thing or the other. If you want to go for "big open sky on summit" I would do less earth. I you want to emphasize the soil/path/heather then more earth than sky. Both would work and you would get two images instead of one!
Hey David! Nice and simple.

As always David - nice work!
