Ancient bridge, just a piece

Here is a section of the 2000 years old gallo-romanic aqueduct located in south of France. This aqueduct, almost 50 meters high, was built to bring water to the city of Nemausus (today Nîmes). The aqueduct is a World heritage site.

Yea!! Glad you are back David!

I missed your unique look at the architecture of the world through pastel eyes. And this is my favorite. The shapes, lines and texture are perfect. Then the color treatment sends it to the next level. You have a great, identifiable style David!

Love this!!

Merci beaucoup chère Ruth.
I've been very busy for a while and then could not share any photos. Glad to be back to be a part of the group.
I'm not that happy with this photography, not "grainy" enough. When I imagined it, I was hoping for a more contrast result and more shining sunrays. I'm about to find an other photography dealing with my thoughts.

The last few posts from you have all mentioned things that make me feel like you are struggling with your work. I am sorry to hear the frustration in your voice David. If it helps at all, I think every artist experiences the times of feeling in a rut and that they aren't improving.

I have a suggestion that works for me (even though i dont think anyone I've given this to has ever done it!) When I am struggling and getting frustrated, i just start shooting something completely different. I have to change subjects in order to get out of the rut. Sometimes this is just a little 'vacation' and others it opens up new passions.

I choose something that i have no experience with and will take some effort to learn about. I google the topic and find examples that i think are successful. Then i spend a month trying to get to a point where I can consistently produce something I like. I ban myself from my regular subjects. And really, what's the downside? It is just a month and, if you are frustrated already, things can't get worse! This is where my inks came from and now they are a core of my work.

You have a passion for architecture. why don't you try shooting only architecture abstracts for a month. (Your image below is one of my favorite photo ever posted in the group!)

For one month, no high key or full building shots allowed! Post a lot here for feedback. This group was instrumental in getting my inks working when i was struggling. Really focus on your new subject even if it doesn't produce awesome things at first. When you start getting somewhere with them and are finding you like what you are getting, do some in you favorite high key style. I am willing to bet that you take a step forward and feel more inspired at the end of the month.

Do a search for Alon Jacobi here on fStoppers. He does amazing architectural abstracts.

Keep you chin up David!

Got to love an aqueduct !!! They are usually imposing structures, so seeing one in this softness makes for an interesting view. Nice one indeed.
