What an interesting image! I love the stark contrast in the woodgrain, and the checked pattern of intersecting shadows on the steps. I think the composition might benefit from placing the overall line of the staircase itself at a bit more of an angle. The strong graininess of the balusters' shadow on the wall perplexes me - was that something done in post?
I agree with Evelyn on all points and the question too! :) I DO like this images. I love all the lines going in different directions while having a clear relationship to each other.
Our front door is clear stained glass and the wall is a shadow of the door projected by the front lights in our home. I wish it were more mysterious, but ....
