an attempt to produce something by adding some photos one upon the other. These last days, a heat wave came through France with some temperatures rising up to 46°C. That's what I tried to dislpay in order to obtain a sort of impressionist view looking like a painting.
Nice picture. How did you add the photographs together?
I think it's blending mode Overlay or Soft Light in PS. Maybe with a lower opacitiy.
I don't have photoshop... (1000 euros is too expensive for a soft I'd use once a month).
Gimp is okay too. ;)
Here is one of the original picture with the exact location :

Wow, nice place. Almost every castle in our region in Switzerland is a ruin. ;)
well, I added 4 or 5 pictures one on one (see the frames on left). Each of them is taken with minor differences. And, I played with zoom and rotation effects to get both the repetition of details and a sort of soft vortex. I wanted the castle clean, different from the trees into which are induced some waves and zoom effects to melt similar shapes but to the same scale.
that's just an attemp. I'd like to obtain a soften effect, with the dissolution of objects and shapes into a sort of painting, excepte for one object which may stay noticible.
I was thinking about you while we watched the news about your heat wave. Looks like it did something good though as this is very interesting! And so different from your typical work. I have to say that I REALLY like it. It may even be a favorite of your for me.
I am also interested in knowing you process.
Congratulations on finding a new path! I look forward to more!!
Hello Ruth,
Here is the process I used with Gimp 2.8.
This is the copy of my answer to the question Arthur Morgan asked me explanations :

I like the outcome of the pciture. It's a nice idea.
46°C is really high. We had "only" 38°C here in Switzerland, but still that is too much for me.
that's hell for me! Even in altitude, at 2000m high, it was hot.
Yes I know, I'm living at 1100m in the Alps. The weather extremes are not normal anymore and I'm pretty sure we will have more of them in the future.
