In the vein of experimentation, I've been playing with my ink "trees" and "mushrooms" to make more complex scenes. Maybe they are interesting? Maybe just too weird?
I love the way you are pushing the boundaries here Ruth. I love the way you have used light to create more depth to the image.I think your technique certainly has potential.
I really like this shot but do feel it is a little unbalanced, perhaps feeling a little discord with the eye being pulled through to the left of the frame by light/contrast.
Have you tried rotating? I have tried playing around and think a horizontal format may offer you more opportunities. For me this gives a sense of floating on water and feels more harmonious to my eye.
I do like the directional aspect here. I have a few that I like best sideways. I'll post one. Just for giggles here, the interesting thing is that the orientation that looks most "wrong" is it's actual orientation.....
Yeah, I prefer that one also. I believe it's because my eyes want to travel from let to right and in the original I bump straight into the strongest part of the image.
Now if I were Arabic and read the other way...…..

Just one opinion, feel free to disagree.
